Larry D. Wright is currently the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Florence, Alabama, a position he has held since 1991. Previously, he served another pastorate for sixteen years. Prior to that, he served on a church staff and fulfilled a calling in the field of vocational evangelism.
Larry graduated from Samford University (Birmingham, Alabama) in 1970 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Fort Worth, Texas). His ministry extended to the college campus where he taught religion as an adjunct professor at the University of North Alabama in Florence for seven years.
A published author, Larry enjoys writing as a hobby and as a great ministry opportunity. Some of his writings have been published in Homelife and Proclaim, as well as Leadership Journal. His other interests include golf, backpacking, duck hunting and training Labrador Retrievers. Larry and daughters have hiked over 150 miles on the Appalachian Trail and most all of the trails in North Alabama.
